Council has reached another key milestone in making the Greensborough Project a reality by approving the formal planning permit at its Ordinary meeting of October 6. Council considered a detailed report on the project which assessed the application and ensured that it met with the planning framework established for the Greensborough Activity Centre in consultation with the surrounding community and traders.
The detailed plans for the project are consistent with the vision that Council has established for Greensborough and ensures the best possible outcome will be delivered to the community.
The project will rejuvenate the town centre and provide recreational, civic, community and commercial development to ensure that Greensborough can fulfil its role as a diversified Principal Activity Centre into the future.
The Greensborough Project is a significant revitalisation of the Greensborough town centre. It will deliver a modern community hub that includes a Regional Aquatic and Leisure Centre, civic and community facilities, a town square, expanded retail space and a new multi deck car park with over 1800 car spaces. Additional residential development and State Government plans for a new transport interchange are also opportunities as part of the future redevelopment plans.
A copy of the Council report and decision is available from the Council Agenda and Minutes section of Council's website.
A permanent project display is on exhibition at the Planning counter at the Rosanna Office.
