Our Cleansing Department is responsible for maintenance of stormwater pits and drains, cleaning of shopping centre carparks, litter bin clearance, toilet cleaning and the mechanical sweeping of streets.
Mechanical Sweeping
Mechanical sweeping includes the sweeping of all kerbs, channels and sealed pavements to Council controlled roads, carparks and constructed right-of-ways and the collection of autumn leaves. These services are performed on a cyclical basis as follows:

Litter Removal
Clearing of litter involves the collection of all litter from litter bins, as well as the sweeping and collection of litter in the vicinity of the bins, cleaning and maintenance of litter bin liners, and removal of dead animals and dumped rubbish from Council controlled road reserves, carparks and right-of-ways within the City.
Clearing of litter also covers the sweeping of litter and the cleaning of spillage's and adhered materials from paved pedestrian areas of nominated shopping centres, and the total paved areas of the Greensborough multi-deck carpark.
